Due in part to her human heritage, Vuus had always been a little heavier than what would be expected of an elf. When they weren’t teasing her for her round, pleasant face or crooked smile, her cousins needled her constantly about her weight, regardless of (or due to) the fact that the weight soon migrated to more flattering locations.

Much of Vuus’ early life consisted of learning the family trade of seamstress and tailoring, while dodging snobbishness lobbed from her father’s side and secretly keeping in touch with her friends in low places. She was too skilled with her hands for her own good; not only was she clever at making and maintaining clothing, but she had a knack for pocketing things that weren’t hers and getting into places she had no business being. Vuus and her friends turned petty crime into a sort of game. They’d see how many prized trinkets they could leave for flustered owners to find on the rooftops or hanging from trees. There was a hierarchy in the group decided primarily by who could sneak in and out of the highest security area undetected, which nearly made Vuus the leader of the lot.

When her home life became too dull and her associates’ dreams too small, the young half-elf tailor-turned-thief decided it was time to leave her quaint hometown. Substituting the nickname given her by her cousins for her maiden name, the girl simply up and left. She took with her only a plain traveling outfit, a few personal effects, and one last mischievous tax secretly extracted from her cohorts. Vuus had no real destination; her objective was to take in all she could and keep moving. She never considered herself a thief—she never took for greed, she never took more than she needed. She ignored the part of her that longed to dress up, wear fancy baubles, and strut, because being noteworthy meant being caught. When living on the wallets of others grew tiresome, Vuus would invest in some bolts of cloth, settle down in a town, and offer her trade skills to the populace for a few months.

She’s been many places, is glad to have left some of them behind, hopes to see more again, and has yet to see many more.
She’s mischievous, good-natured, capricious.

And her next meal is on you.
